Language Courses

CAPA provides quality language courses to the community and ensures that these languages are taught in the most modern, hands-on and entertaining ways. Critical thinking, communications, presentations, essay writing, computer literacy, listening, speaking, reading and writing are all heavily incorporated in the language courses in order to enhance students’ ability soft and hard skills and to get the best experience while learning a new language.

Academic English

Academic English language program employs international standards by National Geographic Pathways coursebook and scientific theme-based curricula that enhance learners’ language skills, world knowledge , and critical thinking. The focus is primarily on English for academic purposes and application of language skills; speaking, listening, reading, and writing. In addition to that, vocabulary and grammar are integrated into the skills in conjunction with the themes presented.
Academic English language program has six levels and as well as a hands-on practical component, CAP classes (Classes for Academic Performance) that are designed to enable the learners to apply their knowledge and enhance academic performance. During CAP classes students practice computer literacy, writing, active reading, public speaking through presentations, drafting business documents such as reports, emails, and citations.
Duration: 148 hours

Professional English

Professional English is designed to develop English speaking skills for career advancement in any industry. The course develops listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while instilling a solid foundation of vocabulary ,and grammar. Teaching methodology is geared towards adult learning process to ensure active engagement and hands on practice in every aspect of the language. The students get to apply their language skills pertinent to the industry.
The course uses the National Geographic Pathways textbook that provides unique code to each student to engage technology in the learning process. The program has 6 levels and at each level current issues and worldwide topics are discussed to develop critical thinking and global awareness.
The entry to the program is Pearson placement test and the exit is TOIEC exam which is internationally recognized professional test that validates English proficiency and it is offered at our Testing Center.

Business English

Business English course is designed to develop business communication proficiency for professionals working in various industries. The course is using Market Leader textbook which is one of the best resources in the language teaching to expand business English vocabulary, enhance business communication skills and knowledge of business ethics through fresh from the press readings and videos as well as applied speaking and listening exercises. The curriculum can be customized to include industry-specific vocabulary based on student needs.
Duration: 60 hours
Price: $ 300

English for Young Learners

This course prepares your child for a brighter future. The program is designed to help young learners improve their English language skills in a friendly and supportive environment that simulates real-life communication as well as conduct hands-on activities which make the class fun and engaging.

Our main aim is to engage young learners through games, activities, projects, modern technology, discussions, group work, creativity, motivation, and values. The program also focuses on social and emotional learning competencies and 21st century skills to prepare global citizens for a better future. AUK CAPA English for Young Learners runs at AUK’s main campus and in Zakho University AUK’s CAPA satellite center.

Duration: 60 hours

Conversation Course

By taking this course, you will improve the most important skill in English, speaking! You will develop the ability to maintain conversations in English and overcome your fear of speaking in a motivating and encouraging environment where mistakes and slips are welcome. Through a series of carefully selected materials, themes, topics and everyday-life situations, you will perform tasks that simulate real-life interaction. This will include effective questioning and requesting, giving opinions, asking for clarification, and offering suggestions.

The main aim of this course is to develop your speaking skills, so in every lesson, there are various speaking practices so you will need to speak out loud, participate and interact with your classmates in every single lesson and task. The course is targeted to learners of English at all proficiency levels who want to improve their conversational skills.

Duration: 40 hours
Price: $ 180

Kurdish for Expats

This is a course that is designed to help foreigners learn Badini Kurdish and central alphabet, acquire basic speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The course uses communicative methodology and provides integrated and student friendly teaching techniques.

The course exposes learners to a variety of activities and skill-based exercises on Kurdish letters, sounds, vocabulary, and basic grammatical structures in order to be able to form meaningful sentences, confidently participate in essential conversations in Kurdish, read, and write using Kurdish alphabet.

The course is designed for people from different countries and backgrounds of any language that have a desire to learn the fundamentals of Badini Kurdish as a beginner in a starter level to use in their day-to-day life situations.

Duration: 18 hours
Price: $ 120

Arabic Course

The course is designed to develop Arabic language proficiency and can be adapted to the industry such as tourism or other as requested. The course is also linked to professional certificate, CEMA which is equivalent for TOEFL in Arabic language.
Duration: 40 hours

Coding Camp for Kids

Today almost every young learner uses technology. However, few of them know how it works and the opportunities that lie within to explore and grow. Hence, this camp is the perfect platform to teach young learners how technology is made, develop critical thinking skills, bring real- life issues to classroom and provide real-life solutions. This is a professional course made for young learners to let them learn coding in its simplest and fun way. Coding gives children a set of highly demanded market soft skills along with the core foundations of becoming a brilliant developer in the future.

Starting from learning the basic uses of the computer system young learners will gradually learn the basic concepts of coding then create their own animations, stories and games. Young learners do like challenges thus learning coding with our professional instructors and age-appropriate curriculum will help them enjoy and discover the world of technology. Furthermore, students will build a foundation in programming using Python.

The foundational programming skills in this course are transferable between different programming languages, which lets the students to determine the program language and application development of their choice afterward, such as game development, web development or data science.
