Students must be proficient in English to study in the University’s bachelor’s programs. All course instruction, reading and other resources, and communication is in English. The student must provide evidence of proficiency in English.
Exemption
Students who have lived and/or graduated high school in a country where English is the first language may be waived from the English language requirement. Below are the possible ways to attain a waiver:
- Lived 4 consecutive years and graduated from high school in a country where English is the first language
- Lived for 6 consecutive years or more in a country where English is the first language
*Documents of proof must be provided.
TOEFL or IELTS
Students can also be exempt from the English requirement by providing a valid TOEFL or IELTS score. The AUK requires a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 70 or minimum IELTS score of 6.0. TOEFL and IELTS scores are valid for 2 years.
AUK Placement Test
Students who do not meet the above requirements must take the AUK placement test. The AUK placement test is split into three sections: 1) objective, 2) writing, 3) speaking. The test will give students a level score which will indicate the level of English where the student will start their study of English.
