Scholarships
The American University of Kurdistan offers scholarships for students, as per the following conditions:
- The student must be enrolled as full-time (min. 12 credits/semester).
- The student must be self-funded (exceptions are scholarships, loans, etc.).
- The student fulfills the conditions of the specific scholarship.
Scholarships and Awards
- Number of awards: Open
- Conditions:
- The student must be self-funded (exceptions are scholarships, loans, etc.).
- Be a citizen or resident of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq or be of Kurdish ethnicity residing in a neighboring country of Iraq.
- Submit a complete Application for Admission
- The student must abide by the student code of conduct to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- The award recipient must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 for the duration of their studies to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- Maintain full-time status, minimum 12 credits each semester, to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- Baccalaureate score: 98%-100%.

- Conditions:
- Be a graduate of a public high school, vocational school, or institute within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
- Submit a complete Application for Admission.
- Open to transfer students; as per AUK policies, university courses taken previously may be transferable toward the AUK bachelor’s degree.
- The student must abide by the student code of conduct to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- The award recipient must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 for the duration of their studies to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- Students granted refugee status are eligible for the scholarship.
- Maintain full-time status, minimum 12 credits each semester, to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- Baccalaureate score: 90.00% and higher.
- Financial Coverage: Recipients are provided an allowance to cover the cost of CAPA and the bachelor’s program by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; this does not cover the repeats of any courses. Housing in the University Residence Facility, fees and the costs of English-Language Proficiency Exams are not covered.

- Priority: 35 awards for female applicants, 20 seats for applicants from Central and Southern Iraqi governorates.

Conditions:
- Be a citizen or resident of Iraq and be from one of the prioritized populations.
- Have a baccalaureate score of 80% and higher.
- Submit a complete Application for Admission.
- Be admitted and enroll as a full-time student.
- Included programs: Nursing, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Software & Security
- Maintain full-time status, min. 12 credits each semester, to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- The student must abide by the student code of conduct to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- The award recipient must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 for the duration of their studies to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- All repeated courses will be charged at the full tuition rate.
- It is not possible to change the program the recipient is enrolled in.
- Students with a cumulative GPA lower than 2.00 will be placed on probation and will have two semesters to reach a cGPA of minimum 2.00. Students who fail to do so will be dismissed from the university.
- The award recipient must have not completed a university degree.

Children and spouses of martyrs are offered full tuition grants to study at AUK. This
government-funded grant is provided by the Ministry of Anfal and Martyrs to students
within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The grant applies to the governorates operating
within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq: Duhok, Hawler, and Sulaimaniyah.
- Number of awards: Open
- Conditions:
- The student must fill out all application forms and provide all documentation required by AUK and governmental offices.
- The student must abide by all rules and regulations set by the Ministry of Anfal and Martyrs.
- Continuous enrollment is required until completion of bachelor’s degree.
- In the event that the student uses up their allowance prior to graduation due to failed courses/exams, the student must independently fund his/her own tuition through to graduation. Unfortunately, if a student is unable to pay his/her own tuition after they have used up their allowance, the student will not be able to continue their academic career at AUK.

Children of political prisoners are offered full tuition grants to study at AUK. This
government grant is provided by the Ministry of Anfal and Martyrs to students within the
Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The grant applies to the governorates operating within the
KRG: Duhok, Hewler, and Suliemania.
