National Students

National Students

Students who hold an Iraqi passport are considered national students. National students can be admitted upon graduation from four different areas:

High School

This type refers to students who attended a public or private school in the KRG and completed the Baccalaureate Exam. Students from high school are graduates of one of two fields of study: science or arts. Certain departments/programs require a student to have graduated from the science field. There are other conditions for admissions to programs in the college of engineering.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Software and Security Science 60%
Bachelor of Arts in International Relations Arts or Science 60%
Bachelor of Science in Nursing Science 75%

Vocational School

Students who completed 9th grade and shifted to a vocational school can also apply to AUK. Students can only apply to a program at AUK that is related to their graduating field of study.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Software and Security Graduated from Information Technology or Computer Maintenance 70%

Technical Institute

This refers to 2-year programs that a student attends after high school. The student can apply using the grade report from the institute. Students can only apply to a program at AUK that is related to their graduating field of study.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Software and Security Graduated from Information Technology or Networks 60%
Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering Graduated from Petroleum Technology 80%

5-Year Institute

This refers to programs where a student attends after 9th grade. Students can only apply to a program at AUK that is related to their graduating field of study.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Software and Security Graduated from Information Technology or Networks 65%
Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering Graduated from Petroleum Technology 90%

International Schools

Any student who has graduated from an international high school within the KR and Iraq must provide the letter of equalization from the Ministry of Education (ME). The letter of equalization from the ME will include the equalized score. The equalized % score is used for acceptance to the University by academic program.

The American University of Kurdistan uses the guidelines of the Ministry for Higher Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government of admission to private universities (No. 13327, date: Sept. 5, 2019) for accepting undergraduate students.
