FAQs

Is AUK accredited?

The American University of Kurdistan is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Ministry of Higher Education in Iraq. The University is currently seeking U.S. accreditation through The New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).

Will my AUK degree allow me to undertake postgraduate studies at universities abroad (e.g. in the US, UK, etc.)?

Although accreditation greatly increases the likelihood that an international university will recognize a degree for the purpose of postgraduate admissions, it is at the discretion of the institution to which you are applying. Please contact the admissions department of your prospective university to learn about its admission criteria and procedures for international applicants.

Will other universities accept AUK credits for transfer purposes?

Universities consider various factors when evaluating transfer credits, including program requirements, course compatibility, and internal policies. Please contact the admissions department of your prospective university learn about its transfer policies and the compatibility of individual courses.

Will a degree from AUK enable me to obtain employment abroad?

Immigration and foreign labor policies vary by country. Please contact the embassy or consulate of the region/country where you would like to work to discuss its requirements for foreign workers.
