The Academic Council is a key governance body at AUK responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of the University’s academic programs in alignment with its mission and institutional learning goals. The Council provides oversight and direction on academic policies, curriculum development, faculty matters, and academic standards to ensure continued excellence in teaching, research, and learning.
The Academic Council is chaired by the Provost and includes the College Deans, Department Chairs, Director of Academic Records and Development (ARD), Director of the Library, Director of Grants Management, Director of the Center for Public Health Studies (CPHS), and the Chair of the Faculty Senate.
The Academic Council formulates and reviews academic policies, oversees curriculum development and program revisions, and ensures alignment with accreditation standards and workforce needs. It also guides the implementation of faculty evaluation processes, promotes academic integrity, and supports continuous improvement in student learning outcomes and academic advising.
Through collaboration and consultation with academic units and University leadership, the Academic Council fosters an environment of shared governance, academic innovation, and institutional advancement.
