AUK mobilizes PPE donation via Dr. Susie Chen, Dean of College of Nursing
Duhok, Kurdistan Region – July 23, 2020 – The American University of Kurdistan (AUK), alongside its aim to provide excellent educational service, models and promotes dedication to community service and social responsibility. In this context and especially amid the current COVID-19 pandemic, AUK’s Dean of Nursing, Dr. Susie Chen, mobilized a large number of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to The Directorate General of Health-Duhok. The supply of equipment is realized through fundraising, donors, and hospitals in Taiwan and consists of 76 cartons.
Including:
- 34 cartons of 100,000 pcs surgical masks
- 27 cartons of 6,000 pcs 3M 9010 N95 respirators and 2,356 pcs coverall medical protective clothing
- 15 cartons of 900 pcs face shields
“After mobilizing many different non-profit organizations in a month, I feel very grateful that I was able to raise funds to purchase PPE. Thus, we can have such large quantities of PPE donated to hospitals, clinics, and refugee camps through the Directorate General of Health in Duhok.” Said Dr. Susie Chen, Dean of College of Nursing.
By providing The General Directorate of Health in Duhok with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), The American University of Kurdistan aims to show appreciation to the relentless effort of healthcare workers, ease their burden during the current health crisis and also encourage the strict complying with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) ‘s guidelines and measures to fight this deadly virus.
