AUK celebrates the success of its CAPA Summer School program
Duhok, Kurdistan Region – September 16, 2023 – The second Young Learners Program sponsored by AUK’s Center for Academic and Professional Advancement (CAPA), completed the summer with a graduation event. This summer program teaches a range of subjects in addition to English including art, sports, coding, entrepreneurship, music, and dancing. A total of 457 young learners registered for the summer program.
Parents and students from both CAPA sites in Zakho, at the University of Zakho, and Duhok, at The American University of Kurdistan (AUK), were invited to meet the teachers, hear about their students’ performance, and receive certificates.
AUK President Dr. Randall Rhodes congratulated parents for valuing education and stated, “Embracing education at this young age is key to academic success.” He continued, “These young students are well on their way to becoming AUK students.”
The Summer School’s Spelling Bee winner, Noor Bashar, was also awarded a certificate for her accomplishment.
This year, AUK CAPA will begin offering Saturday School starting on October 7; young learners can enroll in Math and English classes. Arabic and Kurdish classes will be offered to the older students.
