Engagement in the electoral process and the participation by women and minorities were identified as areas where progress needs to be made.
Consul General Bizley emphasized that education is not just about acquiring knowledge but about equipping students with the skills and mindset necessary to lead and innovate in an increasingly complex world. The students should think globally, but apply their knowledge and skills locally.
One of the key topics discussed was the prestigious Chevening Scholarship, a U.K. government program that offers fully-funded scholarships for future leaders to pursue master’s degrees in the U.K. Consul General Bizley explained that the scholarship is designed for individuals who have demonstrated leadership potential and academic excellence. He emphasized that Chevening scholars are expected to bring valuable insights and skills back to their home country, Kurdistan.
At the end of the session, the Consul General encouraged AUK students to apply for the Chevening Scholarship, highlighting the life-changing opportunities it offers. He urged students interested in making a significant impact on their communities and the world to visit the official Chevening website (www.chevening.org) or the UKinErbil Instagram account for more information.
