Philippine Embassy Delegation Explores Cooperation with AUK
On October 27, 2024, Philippine Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Anthon Cayaco and Philippine Honorary Consul to Kurdistan Falah Karur visited the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) in Duhok. They were received by AUK President Dr. Randall Rhodes, alongside other university leaders, including Provost Dr. Triona Croke, Vice President for Administration and Finance Omed Zawity, and Director of CAPA Loucine Hayes. Filipino AUK faculty members, Dr. Jervy Bernardino and Dr. Marina Bradley from the College of Nursing, also participated in discussions on future collaborations.
The meeting covered various opportunities for cooperation, such as initiatives for entrepreneurship, faculty recruitment, and the potential creation of a Philippine section in AUK’s library to promote cultural and educational exchange. The delegation also engaged in meaningful discussions about the shared cultural values between the Kurdish and Filipino communities, promoting mutual understanding and respect.
After the meeting, CDA Cayaco and Honorary Consul Karur toured AUK’s modern campus, visiting its advanced labs and library, highlighting the university’s commitment to academic excellence and its role as a center for international collaboration in the region.
