
Mizgeen A. Omar, DBA Candidate
Mizgeen A. Omar currently serves as a faculty member in the College of Business at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK), where he teaches courses in accounting, finance, and management. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management, Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, and a Graduate Certificate in Leadership Strategies from Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. He is currently a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Candidate at the University of Phoenix in Arizona, USA, focusing on the sustainability and financial performance of FinTech firms.
Prior to joining AUK, Mr. Omar lived and worked in the United States, where he accumulated extensive experience in the hospitality industry. He held progressive leadership positions with Grand Hospitality Management, Inc., a large hospitality corporation in the Midwest region of the USA, working in accounting, departmental management, and ultimately serving as Regional Manager. In these roles, he developed expertise in operational leadership, financial oversight, team development, and strategic planning.
His diverse professional background across both academic and corporate environments enables him to bring real-world applications into the classroom. He is committed to preparing students to excel as ethical, innovative, and globally minded business leaders. His research interests include sustainability in business, ESG reporting, financial performance measurement, and FinTech innovation. His current doctoral research examines the relationship between ESG disclosures and the market performance of FinTech firms, to advance sustainable business practices in the global financial sector.
