The University Cabinet is a consultative body that reviews and discusses institution-level matters and provides recommendations to the President. It serves as the primary forum for deliberation on strategic, operational, and governance issues that influence the University’s overall direction. The Cabinet addresses topics such as the mission and vision of the University, strategic planning, accreditation, institutional budgeting and its presentation to the Board of Trustees, the addition and removal of academic programs, employment contract frameworks, and initiatives that strengthen research, teaching, and institutional capacity.
The Cabinet also reviews policies and procedures, supports professional development among faculty and staff, and fosters collaboration across administrative and academic units. It functions in coordination with the Academic Council, under the direction of the Provost; the Administrative Council, under the Vice President for Administration and Finance; and the President’s Council, composed of the President’s direct administrative reports. These bodies address unit-level matters and channel relevant recommendations to the Cabinet for consideration.
Members of the University Cabinet include the President, Board Secretary, Provost, Vice President for Administration and Finance, Faculty Senate Chair, Staff Senate Chair, Accreditation Consultant, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning, and the Director or Vice President of Advancement. A student representative joins meetings for selected items, and additional participants may be invited as per the agenda.
