This role, which reports directly to the Provost, is responsible for leading strategic planning of research in the field of peace and human security as aligned with the strategic imperatives of AUK. It also involves overseeing the proper discharge of administrative requirements of CPHS to initiate, lead, and undertake research projects, generating reports, policy proposals, and publications based on research findings. In addition, commits to supporting the Center’s research and knowledge transfer; learning, teaching, scholarship and internationalization ambitions, and contributing to the success of AUK.
Job Responsibilities
- Providing research leadership, promoting and facilitating leading-edge research, including collaborative research in areas pertinent to the multidisciplinary field of peace and human security.
- Ensuring that CPHS’s objectives are aligned with AUK’s Strategic Plan objectives.
- Building, and providing sufficient support for, a community of innovative researchers to enhance research capacity at AUK and to increase internal and external research opportunities for faculty, students, and international scholars.
- Developing networks between CPHS and researchers in the field of peace and human security in the public and private sectors, locally, nationally and internationally.
- Acting as the nexus between AUK and the regional and local communities with respect to research on social peace, diversity, and civil values.
- Developing mutually beneficial linkages with industry in areas that are imperative for societal needs and stabilization.
- Transferring knowledge to society through outreach (e.g. collaborative research, seminars, workshops, lectures, websites, and publications).
- Identifying and developing strong linkages with potential research collaborators, and preeminent scholars, NGOs, and research centers, and academic departments in and outside of Kurdistan.
- overseeing the proper discharge of administrative duties of the research center including supervising personnel, financial management, and operations.
- Managing the research plan effectively and efficiently, ensuring that accepted standards of research and ethical behavior are met.
- Enhancing the reputation of the research center and the university by undertaking and publishing high quality research, and communicating that research to the society
- Supporting fund raising for research conducted at CPHS.
