AUK’s Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching launches the Innovative Pedagogy Program
The Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) has
launched the Innovative Pedagogy Program (IPP), designed to build the capacity of AUK faculty members in
modern
and effective teaching methods, focusing on maximizing the connectedness and engagement of students with
educational curricula.
IPP targets faculty members (trainees) via a series of six workshops entitled “Excellence Labs”. These six
workshops
cover six key themes, referred to as the “6 C’s”. They are consciousness (lab 1), connection (lab 2), curious
creativity (lab 3), confidence (lab 4), communication (lab 5) and creative assessment (lab 6).
IPP’s training methods include virtual coaching by European facilitators, group work/discussion and
individual
assignments. Each trainee is required to build a digital portfolio of learning methods and tools across the
duration of the Program (October 2021 to May 2022).
CELT is committed to supporting and promoting innovative approaches to pedagogy, motivating students to
become
engaged learners and employment-ready graduates. CELT’s mission is to inspire both teacher and learner by
promoting
excellence in teaching methods. CELT provides expertise in curriculum design/development, continuously
striving
to
improve learning and teaching methods at AUK.
