AUK’s Office of Student Affairs Launches Fall 2025 Workshop Series
Duhok, Kurdistan Region – The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) has once again launched its Workshop Series, a signature program held every Fall and Spring semester to support freshmen and continuing students as they resume their academic studies. The series, held weekly on Tuesdays, introduces students to essential skills and perspectives for navigating university life and adapting to American-style education.
The Fall 2025 series began on September 9, with AUK President Dr. Randall Rhodes presenting “How to Read Your Syllabus and Calculate Your GPA.” The session helped new students interpret their course syllabi and practice calculating their GPA, giving them key tools to take ownership of their academic lives and set and reach targets.
On September 16, Mr. Thomas Hayes, Director of Leopard Radio, led “Practical Philosophy: 10 Life Tips,” which encouraged students to reflect on how they view and manage life’s challenges. Through practical wisdom and thoughtful discussion, the session offered ways to approach midterms, embrace the present, and build resilience.
On September 23, Ms. Tana Salim, AUK’s Health Promotion Officer, led a workshop focusing on smoking awareness and wellness. Students learned about the health risks of tobacco use, strategies to quit, and resources for adopting a healthier lifestyle.
With its diverse lineup of speakers and topics, the OSA Workshop Series continues to provide students with a strong foundation for both academic and personal growth at AUK.
