AUK’s Design Department visited IDP camp in Qadia
Duhok, Kurdistan Region – October 7th – AUK’s Department of Design visited the Rwanga Community IDPs Camp in Qadia as part of humanitarian activities in the time period September-October 202.
Under the motto” Art is a universal language”, students from the Department of Design of The American University’s College of International Studies, led by Chair of Department Dr. Sinisa Prvanov visited one of the largest IDP camps in the Duhok Governorate on September 14th.
The aim of the visit was an on-site experience of the living circumstance for students and basic drawing lessons for children in the camp.
A second visit was organized for October 1st including the donation of school supplies, basic English language lessons, and the plan to build a roof for the host family before winter arrives.
For October 15th, another visit to the camp is planned, with the aim of scouting and fostering young talents among the children in the camp
Qadia, also known as Rwanga IDPs camp is home to over ten thousand Yazidis, mostly fled from Sinjar after the Islamic State conquered their territories brutally in 2014.
