AUK Senior Management Meets with WHO
Duhok, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – December 11th, 2018- A delegation from World Health Organization (WHO) visited the American University of Kurdistan and met with the Provost and Director of Educational Advancement on Monday, the 10th of December.
The delegation was consisted of Dr. Arwa Oweis, WHO’s Regional Adviser on Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Personnel, and Dr. Joy Fraser, consultant on nursing to WHO, and the Professor and Director of Health Administration of the Centre for Social Sciences at Athabasca University in Alberta, Canada, who have met with Dr. Nazar Numan, the American University of Kurdistan Provost and Michael McClellan, AUK’s Director of Educational Advancement.
“We had a significant meeting today with the WHO delegation, and together along with President Menzies and Mr. Michael McClellan, we will follow through with meeting the Kurdistan Director of WHO in January to develop collaboration in the field of nursing through its upcoming College of Nursing.” Said Dr. Nazar Numan, Provost of the American University of Kurdistan.
Both Dr. Fraser and Dr. Oweis are in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for an assessment of the nursing profession and nursing education in region, apart from studies in the past for WHO on nursing throughout Iraq and Kurdistan.
