AUK Kicks off Peer Mentoring Program for Fall 2024 Semester
As the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) prepares to kick off its 2024-2025 academic year, the Student Affairs Office is launching the Peer Mentoring Program to welcome new students for the fall 2024 semester.
The primary goal of the Peer Mentoring Program is to formally welcome freshmen and provide them with the support and guidance they need during their initial days at AUK. Over the first five weeks of the semester, Peer Mentors will lead independent sessions where new students will learn about AUK’s rules, regulations, policies, and campus locations; mentors will also ensure that students will become engaged in campus activities and use campus resources. These sessions are designed to help freshmen smoothly transition into university life and lay a solid foundation for achieving their dreams.
The Peer Mentoring Program accomplishes its objectives by selecting twelve students to serve as Peer Mentors, including two Peer Mentor Leaders and ten Peer Mentors. The program will conduct its sessions over two days, August 13 and 14, at the AUK Library’s Learning Center.
Peer mentors will meet with their mentees on a weekly basis for the first 5 weeks of the semester.
