AUK Conducts Peer Mentoring Program to Welcome Incoming Freshmen
The Office of Student Affairs at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) began the new year by launching its biannual Peer Mentoring Program, a key initiative to welcome incoming freshmen, on January 5 and 6, 2025. Twelve students are serving as Peer Mentors, including two Peer Mentor Leaders.
The Peer Mentoring Program is designed to formally introduce new students to the University and provide them with the guidance they need to navigate their first semester on campus. During the first five weeks of the semester, Peer Mentors will meet weekly with their assigned freshmen with the aim of familiarizing them with AUK’s rules, regulations, policies, and campus facilities. The Program also encourages students to engage in campus activities and take advantage of available resources, ensuring a smooth transition into campus life and setting a strong foundation for their academic success.
The Peer Mentoring Program is part of the University’s First-Year Experience, a holistic approach to ensuring student success. It is also aligned with AUK’s mission to create an inclusive and supportive campus community that empowers students.
