AUK Competes in the 7th International Universities Debating Championship in Qatar

A debate team representing The American University of Kurdistan (AUK) proudly participated in the 7th International Universities Debating Championship, held from May 25 to 29, 2024, at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha. Organized by QatarDebate, this event is recognized as the world’s largest Arabic debate competition and gathered over 600 participants representing 96 universities.

The AUK’s team was one of two teams from Iraq. Members were: Zahraa Abdulwahhab, Maram Saddam, and Dalal Alqalyachi. During the competition, the team tackled a range of topics, including the adoption of the Financial Independence Retire Early Strategy by young millennials, and the integration of refugees into government workforces.

The competition was conducted entirely in Arabic, providing a platform for students to engage in discussions on critical societal and global issues while promoting cultural exchange among Arabic-speaking communities. The event culminated in a closing ceremony where top teams and individual speakers were honored for their exceptional performances.
