AUK Begins Construction of Student Dormitories
Duhok, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – August 1, 2018 – The American University of Kurdistan furthered its campus master plan with the groundbreaking of AUK dormitories.
The AUK dormitories project will build its first 6 story building on 9,800 square meters and will accommodate up to 215 students, male and female.The project design is similar to Mustafa Barzani’s Building at the main campus.
“The Dormitories shall provide AUK students with a residence life that is a unique experience.” said Shie Faraj, Manager of Student Affairs “Staying in the AUK’s dormitories is an extension of university education and students can benefit from the cutting edge facilities and high quality services such as study centres, lounge areas and social sporting activities.’’ she added.
Director of Admissions and Registration, Ari Ibrahim stated ‘’we have envisioned recruiting students in other parts of the KRG and Iraq as well as international students. This is just another step in opening more study opportunities at AUK to help expand and diversify our student body.’’
Students can benefit from services and facilities such as, 24 hours electricity and water. Other services include laundry, studying area, cafeteria, computer lab, gym and more.
Dr. Razaq Farhadi the residential engineer echoed that the project’s master plan is very interesting and it will be a great asset for AUK’s prospective students who are coming from other provinces to Duhok.
‘’The project started in late July and it’s anticipated to be done by March 2019.’’ Said Dr. Farhadi in a statement.
