AUK and MTSU Legal Offices Discuss Potential Collaboration
Dr. Sarmad Majeed, the Legal Counsel and Faculty Member of the American University of Kurdistan (AUK), visited with Mr. James C. Floyd, the University Counsel and Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Dr. Majeed’s trip was made possible by the United States Department of State Grant titled “Support to American-Style Higher Education in Iraq.”
In these meetings, the counsels discussed important legal matters concerning universities, such as the university’s policies and procedures that most support and advance the university’s mission, and the role of the legal office in ensuring compliance and strong governance to support and promote the institutional accreditation process. The counsels also discussed different assessment methods and tools to identify and report the impact of the legal office in ensuring students’ success, academic innovation, and research development. Both counsels agreed that the visit of the AUK’s Legal Counsel to MTSU’s Legal Office is an essential step towards establishing a joint future collaboration between both legal offices to better advocate on different legal matters.
