Scholarships
The American University of Kurdistan offers scholarships for students, as per the following conditions:
- The student must be enrolled as full-time (min. 12 credits/semester).
- The student must be self-funded (exceptions are scholarships, loans, etc.).
- The student fulfills the conditions of the specific scholarship.
Scholarships and Awards
- Conditions:
- The student must be self-funded (exceptions are scholarships, loans, etc.).
- Be a citizen or resident of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq or be of Kurdish ethnicity residing in a neighboring country of Iraq.
- Submit a complete Application for Admission
- The student must abide by the student code of conduct to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- The award recipient must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 for the duration of their studies to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- Maintain full-time status, minimum 12 credits each semester, to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- Scholarship seats are limited for each program and high school category.
- Included programs:
- Business Administration
- Computer Software and Security
- Design
- International Studies
- Baccalaureate score:90%-100%
- Financial Coverage:
- Partial scholarship covering $4,650 of tuition CAPA and other fees not included

Children and spouses of martyrs are offered full tuition grants to study at AUK. This
government-funded grant is provided by the Ministry of Anfal and Martyrs to students
within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The grant applies to the governorates operating
within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq: Duhok, Hawler, and Sulaimaniyah.
- Number of awards: Open
- Conditions:
- The student must fill out all application forms and provide all documentation required by AUK and governmental offices.
- The student must abide by all rules and regulations set by the Ministry of Anfal and Martyrs.
- Continuous enrollment is required until completion of bachelor’s degree.
- In the event that the student uses up their allowance prior to graduation due to failed courses/exams, the student must independently fund his/her own tuition through to graduation. Unfortunately, if a student is unable to pay his/her own tuition after they have used up their allowance, the student will not be able to continue their academic career at AUK.
- The student must abide by the student code of conduct to remain eligible for the scholarship.

- Recipients are provided an allowance to cover the cost of English language courses and the bachelor’s program by the Kurdish Regional Government; this does not cover the repeats of any courses.

Children of political prisoners are offered full tuition grants to study at AUK. This

- Be of the Muslim faith.
- Submit a valid TOEFL ITP score of 537+, a TOEFL iBT score of 75+, or an IELTS score of 6.0 at the time of application; Applications that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.
- Achieved a score of 80% or higher in their baccalaureate certificate.
- Maintain full-time status (minimum of 12 credits each semester) to remain eligible for the scholarship.
- Abide by the Student Code of Conduct to remain eligible.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 throughout their studies to remain eligible; Students with a cumulative GPA lower than 2.00 will be placed on probation and have two semesters to raise it to 2.00 or higher. Those failing to do so will be dismissed from the University.
- Repeated courses are not covered under the scholarship; students will be charged at the full tuition rate for repeated courses.
- The scholarship is valid only for Architectural Engineering; Changing to another program is not permitted.
- Political affiliation is not a consideration.

- An essay (in English or Kurdish) documenting interest in Architectural Engineering.
- High school grades.
- A copy of the national ID card/passport.
- A valid certificate of a TOEFL ITP score of 537+, a TOEFL iBT score of 75+, or an IELTS score of 6.0.
