2021 Spring Semester Classes will Remain Online
Duhok, Kurdistan Region – December 1st, 2020 – The American University of Kurdistan will continue in the online teaching modality for spring semester 2021 to ensure the safety of all members of its campus community.
After deliberations with representatives of the students, faculty, staff, external stakeholders, and local and regional health professionals, The University cabinet of the AUK has concluded that by mid-January 2021, the current health pandemic will not have sufficiently abated to merit everyone’s return to campus. Thus, the return to On-Campus teaching will be postponed until new perceptions and insights on the development of the pandemic are given, and new prevention measures by the Kurdistan Regional Government are taken.
Consequently, all 2021 spring semester classes at the AUK will take place through remote learning.
Nonetheless, AUK is committed to the continual assessment of its instructional processes and will take alternative modalities such as hybrid course designs into consideration to not just carry through the upcoming spring semester but also to have a process in preparations for the return of students to campus entirely.
