AUK is delighted to announce its First Hackathon, gathering bright minds from universities
across Kurdistan to address real-world challenges. This event serves as a catalyst for fostering innovation and
creativity while providing a platform to involve students in a dynamic sector.

Mission

AUK’s Hackathon empowers a strong Kurdistan by better bridging between academia and the
private tech sector. It fosters creativity and innovation to discover tech-based solutions to pressing issues,
that face the Kurdistan region of Iraq and beyond.

Objectives

  • To Engage students in hands-on problem-solving.
  • To expose students to potential employers.
  • To provide students with networking opportunity with peers and industry professionals.
  • To provide students with the opportunity to showcase their skills and creativity.
  • To award creative and skills students with attractive prizes and recognition.

We are pleased to invite up to 10 Universities from across the Kurdistan region of
Iraq to compete in the first of its type hackathon. Each team will consist of four
members (three team members and one supervisor). The participating teams will be
required to develop software solutions to pressing issues, under a theme that will
be announced on the same day as the event.
To encourage student creativity, the software solutions will be developed by the
team members while the supervisors will not be allowed to take part in the software
development process. Team members
must be active computing students or graduates within one year of the event.

  • Participants are free to choose coding or programming languages to use.
  • Creating original software solutions is a must. Participating teams must avoid
plagiarism, unauthorized use of existing code or designs, and misrepresentation
    of others' work.
  • No software development may start before the actual date of the event. Teams
that violate this rule will be disqualified.
  • Participating teams are allowed to use publicly developed and openly licensed
API’s and SDKs during the event.
