U.S. Consul General in Erbil Visits the American University of Kurdistan
Duhok, Kurdistan Region – On September 9, 2025, the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) had the honor of welcoming U.S. Consul General in Erbil, Gwendolyn Green, to campus. Consul General Green was received by AUK President Dr. Randall Rhodes, Vice President for Administration and Finance Mr. Omed Zawity, Provost Dr. Triona Croke, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning Ms. Ajin Saadi, Director of CAPA Ms. Loucine Hayes, and Manager of Institutional Relations Mr. Ari Ahmed.
During her visit, Consul General Green was introduced to the University’s academic programs, including its new master’s offerings, student and faculty demographics, and several initiatives established with the support of the U.S. Department of State Grant titled “Supporting American-Style Higher Education in Iraq,” such as She Leads and She is an Entrepreneur. She also toured AUK’s Leopard Radio Station—where she joined students for an interview—and visited the campus bookstore to enjoy the University’s range of American-style mascot-themed merchandise.
Consul General Green expressed her enthusiasm about AUK’s mission and impact in the region and will return to Duhok to tour the University’s facilities and engage with students.
