Established in October 2021, the Center for Academic and Professional Advancement (CAPA) serves as a bridge between
AUK's academic programs and the communities that AUK serves. Formerly AUK's English Language Institute (ELI), the
re-branding of ELI has led to the emergence of this new Center.
CAPA works to enable the AUK community (students and faculty) and external communities in Kurdistan to access quality
education. This enables students to grow and obtain qualifications for better employment and/or career opportunities.
CAPA provides courses and services for continuous professional development, allowing learners to retain relevant and
marketable key skills in a rapidly changing global economy.
CAPA provides educational programs to everyone, from ages 3 to 103, to people with diverse backgrounds and interests.
For example, CAPA offers educational programs for children as young as three years, where working mothers can leave
their young children at AUK’s nursery, receiving an early childhood education in an English environment. Meanwhile, the
mothers can enroll in various language and professional development courses at CAPA. CAPA offers a wide range of courses
for working professionals, and for those who would like to join the workforce and are looking for short-term courses and
certificate programs to obtain marketable skills in a hands-on education environment.
The CAPA logo mirrors the sign for infinity, signifying the limitless learning opportunities for our community via our
various educational programs. Building on the years of experience and expertise of AUK's qualified instructors, CAPA has
built an excellent English-language program that offers opportunities for academic and professional growth, targeting
both aspiring students and professionals in diverse industries. CAPA also offers tailor-made programs for corporations,
supporting the transition process involved in the professional development of their staff. CAPA’s summer school offers
programs in specific skills and programs (coding and digital marketing), as well as entrepreneurship development,
hospitality management, financial accounting, investment decision-making and much more.
CAPA’s Test Center provides a wide range of testing services to AUK’s community and students. The Test Center is
equipped with the latest technology, affording a pleasant and accommodating environment for test takers. This positive
environment enables them to realize the best possible test results. CAPA’s Test Center provides language placement
tests, as well as TEOFL ITP and TOIEC for English language proficiency, an internationally-recognized standard respected
by all corporations.
CAPA’s instructors are experienced and highly-qualified AUK professors and industry specialists who bring in their
knowledge and skills to share and train professionals, and students in their pursuit of academic excellence.
