Philippine Embassy Delegation Visits AUK
On January 29, 2025, the Embassy of the Philippines in Iraq, led by Ambassador and Consul General Charlie Pacaña Manangan and his staff, made its second visit to the American University of Kurdistan (AUK). During the visit, they engaged with AUK leadership, including Dr. Randall Rhodes, President of AUK, Dr. Honar Issa, Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Triona Croke, Provost, Mr. Omed Zawity, Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF), Dr. Jervy Bernardino, Dean, College of Nursing, and Dr. Marina Bradley, Assistant Professor, College of Nursing. The discussions focused on fostering cultural and academic collaborations, including plans for a literary and historical event.
The delegation and AUK representatives also discussed hosting a Filipino cultural event on campus to showcase the Philippines’ rich heritage. Additionally, potential collaboration with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Health was explored, focusing on enhancing the local nursing workforce through training programs, including the possibility of Filipino experts serving as trainers.
The visit concluded with a campus tour, including the Nursing Skills and Simulation Lab, reaffirming AUK’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and promoting the advancement of health care in Kurdistan.
