Jervy Bernardino, Ph.D.

Chief, Nursing

Dr. Jervy Bernardino currently serves as the Chief Nursing Administrator in the College of Nursing at AUK. He obtained his Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Malaysia Sarawak, pursued his Master of Science in Nursing degree with a major in Medical-Surgical Nursing from the University of La Salette, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) from Centro Escolar Las Piñas. At present, he is pursuing a Doctorate degree in Nursing Management (DNM) at the Trinity University of Asia in the Philippines. Dr. Bernardino holds a nursing registration from the Philippine Regulation Commission and the Nursing Council of Jamaica. He was also granted registration to practice as a registered nurse by the Cayman Islands Nursing and Midwifery Council and a license to practice as a nursing specialist by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.

Prior to joining AUK, Dr. Bernardino served as a founding faculty member in public and private universities in the Cayman Islands and Saudi Arabia. Apart from working as a clinical faculty, he has extensive experience teaching undergraduate nursing courses including fundamentals of nursing practice, health assessment, pathophysiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, psychiatric and mental health nursing, nursing care of the older adult, and transition to nursing practice. On top of these, he also served as a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Quality Assurance Committee.

Dr. Bernardino’s research interests include intensive and critical care, simulation in clinical nursing education, emerging technologies in healthcare, organizational culture and ethnic diversity, and nursing leadership and management
