We are committed to offering our students extraordinary learning experiences today that will help them fulfill their dreams tomorrow. CAPA’s Summer School is a manifestation of that commitment. Summer School provides an amusing, hands-on learning environment for ages 4 to 16. The program is designed to unleash young learners’ potential and set a foundation for long-term success.
Summer School has a language-learning component, with three-hour sessions occurring three times a week. This is the CAPA English for Young Learners program.
English for Young Learners (YLP)
The CAPA English for Young Learners program had over 200 students last year. The program uses the best books for language instruction, such as: Global Stage by Macmillan, Time Zone by National Geographic, and Look and See by National Geographic. It also incorporates additional learning materials and resources to spark the curiosity of a young mind. The English for Young Learners program teaches not only a language, but also the life skills of critical thinking, storytelling, presentation, problem solving, and negotiation.
The goal is not just to understand a foreign language passively, but also to produce it spontaneously. Grammar is practiced in a fun way complementing the main aim of the course. In addition to the entertaining lessons, the children enjoy time with their teachers throughout the day, engaging in activities like sports, games, art, and friendly competitions, so as to allow them to apply their growing English skills throughout the day.
The program is designed for ages 4 to 5, 6 to 12, and 13 to 16. The books and levels for each age range is different. With this, TOEFL Junior is also included where young learners test their English language by the end of the course and get an internationally recognized certificate.
