AUK’s B.Sc. in Nursing Granted Pre-Accreditation Status with NLN CNEA

The American University of Kurdistan and its College of Nursing are proud to announce that the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing has been granted pre-accreditation status by the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA), based in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. This milestone was confirmed following a review by the NLN CNEA Board of Commissioners on October 9-10, 2024, marking AUK as the first institution in Iraq to receive this status.

Pre-accreditation is an important step in AUK’s commitment to providing quality nursing education exemplifying international, and American, best practices. Within the next two years, the College of Nursing will conduct a comprehensive self-assessment in preparation for the initial accreditation process.

Dr. Jervy Bernardino, Dean of the College of Nursing, stated, “Achieving pre-accreditation status reflects the efforts of our faculty, staff, and students. This recognition enhances the program’s credibility and supports our commitment to maintaining high standards in nursing education. The upcoming period presents an opportunity to demonstrate our readiness for initial accreditation.”
