AUK Students Elect 8th Student Government Cabinet
On May 4, 2025, the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) held its Student Government elections, marking the selection of the 8th Student Government cabinet. Organized by the Office of Student Affairs, the elections brought energy and enthusiasm to campus as students cast their votes to choose their next student leaders.
The lead-up to Election Day included a spirited debate on April 30, 2025, held in the University Auditorium. During the debate, the three presidential candidates and their vice-presidential running mates discussed a range of issues that shape student life, including campus resources, student engagement, academic support, and how to enhance communication between students and administration. Debates like these give candidates an opportunity to share their visions and respond to student concerns, offering voters a chance to make informed decisions.
After a close race, Shukry Omran and his cabinet emerged victorious, securing 201 votes. Ibrahim Hama followed with 177 votes, and Saleem Saleem earned 89 votes.
