AUK Launches First Master’s Program with AI Student Orientation
On August 28, 2025, the College of Arts and Sciences at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) hosted an orientation session for its first cohort of students in the inaugural Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence. The twenty students, faculty of the Computer Science and IT Department, and the College’s administrative staff participated.
The orientation began with welcome remarks from Dr. Khedir Ramazan, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, followed by presentations from Ms. Yelena Sardaryan, Director of Student Affairs; Ms. Gulan Ahmed, Director of the Library; Dr. Ibrahim Hussein, Director of Admissions and Registration Department; and Dr. Shamal Taha, Chair of the CSIT Department. These sessions introduced students to key academic resources, student support services, and program requirements. Students also toured the campus.
The Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence is designed to develop next-generation AI leaders and innovators. Combining deep theoretical coursework with hands-on, project-based learning, the program equips students to make meaningful contributions across sectors such as healthcare, finance, education, and technology. Students gain access to AUK’s state-of-the-art AI Lab, funded by the grant from the U.S. Department of State titled “Supporting American-style Higher Education,” featuring high-performance computing clusters and industry-grade tools such as TensorFlow and PyTorch. The program can be completed in 1.5 to 2 years, depending on the student’s course load, and with the option of a capstone or thesis project complementing the student’s career aspirations.
The event concluded with networking and refreshments, providing an opportunity to connect with peers, faculty, and administrators.
