AUK CAPA Expands She Leads Women Leadership Program to Erbil
On August 21, 2025, the American University of Kurdistan’s Center for Academic and Professional Advancement (CAPA) launched the She Leads Women Leadership Certificate Program in Erbil, in partnership with Salahaddin University and with the support of the U.S. Department of State.
The orientation welcomed 30 participants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, selected through a competitive process. They join a growing network of more than 120 alumni across Duhok and Zakho, as the program expands its reach to Erbil for the first time.
In her opening remarks, CAPA Director and She Leads author Loucine Hayes introduced the Program’s vision, emphasizing its role in equipping women with leadership knowledge, communication skills, and practical tools to navigate personal and professional challenges. Participants were also introduced to the Program’s curriculum, which includes modules on negotiation, emotional intelligence, feedback, work-life balance, and communication, anchored by texts such as Through the Labyrinth by Alice H. Eagly and Lina L. Carli.
The orientation concluded with networking and refreshments, setting the stage for twelve weeks of interactive training, group discussions, and mentorship. With the addition of Erbil, She Leads continues advancing AUK CAPA’s mission to empower women leaders and foster transformative impact across Kurdistan and beyond.
