Each nursing student is assigned an academic advisor at the beginning of every academic year. Advisors provide individualized guidance on course registration, academic progression, and program requirements. Through regular advising sessions, students receive mentorship, support in navigating challenges, and direction toward achieving academic and professional goals.
Advising assignments are reviewed annually to ensure that students receive balanced academic support and that faculty advisors can address each cohort’s specific needs.
Nursing students are encouraged to take active roles in shaping the College community through the Nursing Student Council and other student-led initiatives. Representatives from each cohort participate in meetings, contribute feedback on academic and clinical experiences, and collaborate with faculty on student-centered events and outreach activities. This culture of shared governance fosters leadership, accountability, and a sense of belonging.

Service to the community is an essential component of the AUK nursing education. Community outreach and service-learning activities are integrated into the curriculum, ensuring that students apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings while fostering civic responsibility and leadership.
Students participate in outreach initiatives such as health fairs, blood donation drives, and wellness education campaigns. These experiences strengthen clinical and communication skills, enhance cultural competence, and reflect the College’s mission to promote health and well-being across the Kurdistan Region and beyond.
