AUK’s Architectural Engineering Department Hosts Culture Exhibition Highlighting Global Architectural Diversity
The American University of Kurdistan’s Architectural Engineering Department recently held a Culture Exhibition as part of the course titled “Architecture: Culture, Community, and Climate.” The event showcased a variety of student-created posters, each highlighting architectural elements such as doors, windows, walls, and roofs from cities around the world such as Old Erbil, Alqosh-Duhok, Venice, India, Denmark, Athens, Prague, and more.
Students transformed these elements into cohesive designs, composing them into a collage format. Alongside the images, students provided texts explaining the architectural features in their images, discussing key characteristics like color, ornamentation, scale, and repetition.
With approximately 130 attendees, the exhibition attracted students, faculty, staff, and visitors from the AUK community. They engaged with the creative works, gaining a deeper understanding of how architecture is not only functional, but also reflects the cultural identity and needs of communities.
