AUK Expands Regional Engagement with Strategic Visit to Mosul
On February 26, 2025, the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) took a significant step toward fostering academic and institutional collaboration with key stakeholders across education, governance, and commerce in Mosul.
AUK’s delegation, led President Dr. Randall Rhodes and joined by Dr. Honar Issa, Secretary of the Board of Trustees, and Ahmad Balta, Admissions Recruiter, visited private and public schools accompanied by Ms. Erivan Mahdi, a member of the Nineveh Provincial Council. The team toured the Al-Awail Private School, Al-Motamaizat School for Girls, and Al-Sharqiya School where Dr. Rhodes spoke to students on the University’s mission, American-style education, and the programmatic offerings of AUK.
The delegation met with Nineveh Governor Abdulqadir Al-Dakhil to explore avenues for collaboration and the educational needs of students and professionals in Mosul. A similar conversation was held with the Nineveh Chamber of Commerce. Discussion focused on fostering local business development, expanding scholarship opportunities, and creating pathways for public and private sector employee capacity-building.
Through this series of engagements, AUK’s delegation and those they met in Mosul were quite optimistic that cooperation between the parties will expand access to the expertise, American-best practices, and educational programs, which the University has to offer.
