COVID-19 has deeply affected the global economy as well as the education sector, including forcing many universities to remain closed temporarily. Under government direction, AUK discontinued in-person teaching. With imposed social distancing measures, it is no longer a question of whether online education can deliver the promise of a quality higher education, but how universities like AUK can immediately and effectively embrace online learning and ensure the integrity of the educational experience. If the coronavirus and AUK’s state of emergency persist for a year or more, the curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular structures may need to be redefined.
This plan highlights both health and safety measurements and ensuring the quality of course delivery amid the pandemic for Fall 2020. It also examines different modalities and determines the best suited for the current situation. Given the current situation and the data, AUK determined that the course delivery modality in Fall 2020 will be online with some mandatory in-person engagements.
